I’ve been screwing around with this blog/substack/whatever for nearly ten years, never looking to increase readership. Only recently added an occasional

in a half-hearted way because subscribers are cool, but having subscribers is a pain in the ass.

Why is it a pain in the ass? Because of the ego. The fucking ego. My ego and the ego I imagine that you have.

Why write?

Right now, I’ve got 31 subscribers.

Back on July 26, when I wrote a post called “Who Cares,” I had 21.

Some of them care. They posted comments saying so.

Some of them liked my posts. Some told friends about them.

And that has been a problem because of the ego. The fucking ego.

On August 25, I wrote a post which (in part) honored one of my subscribers, the very talented moviewise.

It was such a pain in the ass that I started this post and didn’t finish it. It was a draft, and I decided to publish my drafts. I think I published two. I published this one in 2022.

I’m finally (Feb 2025) willing to have subscribers. And I’m taking this out of draft category.
